David Hughes is southern born and raised in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He attended Arkansas Tech University on a full athletic basketball scholarship and earned a B. S. in Economics and Finance. His extracurricular activities included Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

After college he joined a family business in Charlotte, NC and enjoyed a long term successful career in banking with Bank of America and First Charter and he is a Registered Investment Advisor.

While living in Charlotte he purchased a second home in Western North Carolina and for 20 years at every possible opportunity he was here enjoying is favorite activities.  Eventually he made it his primary home and began his real estate career.  His banking and financing expertise is a definitive advantage to the client’s he works with in buying or selling a home.

David’s hobbies, interests and lifestyle are totally in tune with the rhythm of mountain living. He is avid backpacker and hiker; having backpacked/hiked in 34 states including Alaska.  He also enjoys riding his Harley Davidson on our beautiful scenic roads and in the summer of 2005 he rode across the USA from Oregon to North Carolina in support of the Kyle Petty Charity that sends children with terminal illnesses to Victory Junction camp in Randleman, NC. He invites you to ride with him on your next real estate adventure! David has also traveled extensively throughout Europe and Russia.

He was appointed by the Governor to serve on the North Carolina Department of Transportation Board and he also served as the chairman of the Charlotte Planning Commission. He was also the recipient of the “Long Leaf Pine” award from the Governor’s Office of Citizen and Community Services. It is among the most prestigious awards presented by the Governor of North Carolina and is most often presented to those North Carolinians who have given extraordinary service to the state. Other former recipients of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine have included the Reverend Billy Graham, Dean Smith, Maya Angelou, Michael Jordan and Dale Earnhardt..
