A native of Brevard, N.C., Susan Lawing Barnes feels that she lived an enchanted life growing up in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Brevard College brought her family to the area when her father became a teacher there in the ‘60’s. The outdoor activities were endless and the campus was alive with music and learning opportunities. She graduated from Brevard High School and then earned a BA in English at the University of North Carolina – Asheville.
Susan’s background, along with her previous career in corporate management and training has helped her become expert at waling her clients through their real estate experience. Managing people, time management and projects have been the focal point of her business career as it progressed from the J. Crew Company to the Biltmore Estate and now in the real estate arena. Understanding that communication is the key to the success of any relationship, Susan makes this the foundation of her business.
She loves the adventure of travel and new places and challenges, but says there is nothing she looks forward to more than coming back to the peace and tranquility of the western, North Carolina mountains.
She and her husband Steve love spending time with friends and family and when time allows, they especially enjoy relaxing on their sailboat when time allows.
